Services & Programs

KEC will be providing the following services and programs in 2007:

2007 KEC Scholarship Program

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Be a resident of the state of Hawaii
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Demonstrate one of the following criteria:
    1. Be a graduating high school senior attending a school in the Kalihi-Palama district (i.e. Farrington High School, Damien School, or Kamehameha Schools.)
    2. Be a college student attending Honolulu Community College
    3. Be a Kalihi-Palama resident with one of the following zip codes: 96817 or 96819
  • Demonstrate academic achievement with at least a minimum GPA (grade point average) of 3.0
  • Attend an accredited two or four year college or university as either an undergraduate or graduate student
  • Be a full-time student (for HCC applicants only)
  • Demonstrate good moral character
  • Provide a personal statement to which should include a description of your participation in community service projects or activities
  • Deadline for applications and supporting materials: March 1, 2007

SCHOLARSHIP TERMS

  • Minimum of at least five (5) scholarships of about $1,000 each.
  • The following award designations are suggested: at least one (1) for Farrington High School graduate, at least one (1) for Damien High School graduate, at least one (1) for Kamehameha High School graduate, at least one (1) for the Honolulu Community College student and at least one (1) for the Kalihi-Palama resident.
  • In the future, award amounts may vary depending one resources available.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENT

Personal statement should include a description of applicant's participation in community service projects or activities.
